As president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, J. J. Ament leads Colorado’s most impactful business and economic development organization. Continuously serving for more than 155 years, the Chamber has played critical leadership roles in the west since nine years before Colorado became a state. Ament was appointed by the Board to lead the thousand-plus member Chamber in 2022.
Prior to his current position, he served from 2017 to 2021 as the chief executive officer of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, the largest privately funded and governed economic development organization in Colorado. With experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, J. J. brings a unique combination of expertise to the role. An investment banker for most of his career, he participated in more than $15 billion of transactions for governments and public-private partnerships throughout the U.S. before leaving the industry in 2016. A fifth-generation Colorado native, born and raised on his family’s farm and cattle ranch in Northeast Colorado, Ament today lives with his wife Nicole, a shareholder at the Brownstein law firm, in Littleton, Colorado. They have three children.
