The Colorado Department of Local Affairs is an agency focused on strengthening the capacity of Colorado’s communities and local governments.
Heather Champeau joined the State Demography Office in August 2017 as the Estimates Demographer. Heather produces population estimates for the State – as well as by county, municipality, and Conservation Trust Fund receiving special district. Other areas of research include evaluation and implementation sciences, health disparities, and the cultural impact of emerging markets. Prior to joining the State Demography Office, Heather worked at the Institute of Behavioral Science and Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she is currently a Ph.D. candidate writing her dissertation on the population impacts of marijuana legalization. Heather received her BA and MA in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington.
